The event kicked off early with registration and a continental breakfast, allowing attendees to settle in and network informally before the day’s activities began. The official start at 8:30 AM was marked by a welcome session that set the tone for a comprehensive day of learning focused on the intricacies of documentation and billing in the physical and occupational therapy fields.

The morning sessions delved into critical documentation requirements, starting with evaluations and reevaluations, followed by progress reports. After a short break, participants explored the essential documentation protocols for daily notes and discharge reports, which are pivotal in maintaining accurate and compliant patient records.

The afternoon agenda shifted towards certification, billing codes, and the practicalities of Medicare. Attendees were briefed on Medicare Part B certification and recertification requirements, followed by an in-depth discussion on the CPT codes most commonly used by physical and occupational therapists. After a networking lunch, the focus on CPT codes continued, offering participants a well-rounded understanding of how these codes are applied in daily practice.

The latter part of the afternoon introduced discussions on NCCI edits and the use of Modifier 59, a topic crucial for avoiding billing errors. After another brief break, the event covered the Medicare 8-minute rule and the American Medical Association’s definition of substantial portions of time-based codes, both vital for accurate billing. The day concluded with post-test billing scenarios for Medicare and private insurance carriers, providing practical insights that attendees could directly apply to their work.

To round off the event, attendees were invited to a rooftop launch party for HelloNote, offering food, beverages, and prizes—an opportunity to relax and celebrate the day’s accomplishments.
